Behave In/Behave Out:
Goal: to maintain the boundaries, while preserving the relationship:
- Choice
- Prevention and Intervention
- Misbehavior and disrespect are dealt with separately
5 Questions Approach:
- What are you doing?
- What are you supposed to be doing?
- Are you doing it?
- What are you going to do about it?
- What's going to happen if you do it again?
Strengths:
- Keeps the environment safe, manageable, enjoyable.
- Consistent with all students, all levels
- Teaches life skills (relationships)
- Encourages students to be accountable for their actions
- Connects with the school activities
- Promotes a positive perspective on teaching and learning and acceptance of diversity
Weaknesses:
- Can be easily misused
- Can take instruction time
- Can become lenient
